You know, being quarantined hasn’t been all that bad. I’ve been able to notice and experience things I have been too busy to appreciate in the past. Guinness, the Velcro Dog, has been in heaven with us home. Plus, with the weather cooperating a bit, we’ve been able to spend more time outside. Which means I’ve noticed Spring is showing her new green shoots of promise!
The yard is a disaster, since Winter came early and we had ground covering snow on Halloween, all the dead leaves are still around. But in the midst of the dying remnants of last Fall there are signs of new life, a welcome sight during these trying times. We will make it through this. Hopefully with a fresh, new outlook on things and a little more consideration for the differences in people.
I have a BFF (one of few I consider BFF’s) and she has been struggling through this. On our social media platforms we are trying to be positive but, there are still those who are negative and create stress and opposition to the positive posts. Because of her job, she has a lot of “friends” from all sorts of places and walks of life. Sometimes, when someone is really struggling, a flippant comment or negative remark, even a brushing off of concern can be the final stroke between being able to keep things together or breaking down.
We ALL need to remember, each of us is a different person and we do not handle things the same way. That’s what makes us all individual, differences shouldn’t divide us. They should help bring us together, each one has their own purpose, and that purpose should give us an opportunity to learn from them. We do not know what the other person is experiencing, feeling, or even what their situation is. Don’t assume they can handle things the same way you are, don’t believe their situation is easier than yours or that they are overreacting. Use the Quarantine Spring to be a bit more tolerant, I think in the Age of Social Media, we have all forgotten our manners and how to communicate properly. We will get through this, one day at a time.
These posts always seem to take on a life of their own, never going in the direction I intend, take the time today to go outside and look at your Spring. Breath the air, touch the trees and plants, feel the breeze. Reconnect and start fresh, turn over a new leaf. Be Spring.
